We have expanded our team and would like you to meet the new members. We were all together at the recent Literacy and Learning Symposium 2011.

Meet the members of our new team
“We are excited about the new members of our team as we enter a period of growth in the key services we offer the province,” said Janet Lane, Literacy Alberta Executive Director. “As we head into a very busy time, I am so pleased to have a team ready to bring success to our initiatives.”
Ann Thomas, Project Coordinator/Facilitator - Ann has worked as executive director at the Cold Lake Community Learning Centre, an instructor with CDI College, Lakeland College, and as a program coordinator for LEARN Literacy & ESL Program. Ann will be working primarily on the Taking Shelter with Literacy project.
“I am honoured to participate in Taking Shelter with Literacy and look forward to connecting, learning and growing as we move forward with future projects,” said Ann.

Cindy Messaros, Project Manager - Cindy joins the Literacy Alberta team to help manage our growing number of community projects. She has extensive team, project and marketing skills and expertise. She also has experience in ESL teaching; report and funding proposal writing; and, public speaking. Cindy will be focusing on essential skills facilitation.
“I am thrilled to be part of the Literacy Alberta team. I am very much looking forward to working on all of the upcoming projects because of the tremendous value they bring to people, communities and our economy.”

Kate Harrison Whiteside, Communications Manager (maternity leave cover) - Kate has a background in social, online, web and print marketing, specializing in plain language. She has stepped into fill the communications role, during Paula’s maternity leave, and take us to the next level with a strong action plan for the year ahead.
“This is an excellent opportunity for me to use all my skills, and re-connect with literacy and plain language fields I am so interested in,” said Kate,” and to be part of such a dynamic team.”

Erin Bickell, Executive Assistant - Erin’s project management, planning and cross cultural experiences from her time at UNICEF will all be put to excellent use as our new executive assistant.
“I am excited to join the team and look forward to working with the community to make a positive difference in people’s lives,” said Erin.
