Working in partnership
Literacy Alberta works closely with many organizations including other literacy and learning organizations, employers, various government departments at all levels, and non-profit organizations serving similar clientele. Some examples of working in partnerships are the:
- CLN and Centre for Family Literacy(CFL) on the Literacy and Learning Symposium 2012.
- literacy organizations and government bodies on the Edmonton Regional Literacy Works committee and Calgary Action for Literacy and Learning (CALL);
- Community Learning Network (CLN) regarding regional support and mentoring for community based Literacy and Learning programs;
- LearningLinks Resource Centre (LLRC), run in partnership with Calgary Learning Centre; LearningLinks Resource Centre is also started a partnership this year with Rocky View Schools, adding more than 650 new books to the library;
- Volunteer Alberta and CLN on the Innovative Communites Connecting and Networking (iCCAN) provincial video-conferencing project;
- Alberta Workforce Essential Skills (AWES) as co-facilitators in the Workup! workplace essential skills training project
- ABC Life Literacy for ‘Learn at Work Week’ and ‘Essential Skills Day’ 2010;
- Champions of Literacy event in Calgary with 10 partnering organizations;
- English as a Second Language (ESL) for Smaller Providers advisory committee;
- Further Education Society of Alberta (FESA) on the Taking Shelter with Literacy Project; and
- Literacy Audit Toolkit development for the grocery sector with representatives from Safeway, Sobeys and Lawblaws.
